The Neuroscience Department celebrated a major milestone this week with the inaugural poster session for its new Cure Course, NROS 314: Auditory Neuroscience Research Experience – The Bat Lab. The event highlighted the department’s expanding commitment to hands-on, research-driven undergraduate education.

Students enrolled in NROS 314 presented posters showcasing their semester-long research projects focused on auditory processing, neural coding, and behavior using bat models. Their work reflects the course’s goal of immersing students in authentic, lab-based scientific inquiry from the ground up.

Dean Carmie attended the session, along with faculty, staff, and students from across the college. Their participation underscored strong institutional support for expanding experiential research opportunities at the undergraduate level.

The department extends its congratulations to Dr. Charles Higgins and Dr. Mel Wohlgemuth, whose leadership and mentorship shaped the development of the course and guided students through their research experience. The high-quality posters and presentations showcased at the event speak to the hard work and creativity of both the instructors and their students.

The Neuroscience Department looks forward to growing the Cure Course model and continuing to provide students with transformative research experiences that prepare them for future careers in science.
