Humans, mice and flies share the same fundamental genetic mechanisms that regulate the formation and function of brain areas involved in attention and movement control, according to a new study. New data supports an emerging picture of brain evolution across the animal kingdom, revealing a common origin of not only how brains are wired, but shared mechanisms underlying behaviors as well.
